Jessi Heins (she/her) has always had a passion for supporting people in times of transition. Before working in birth she worked as a social worker helping at risk populations find and maintain employment as well as working with families who were at risk of being separated. Jessi was also fortunate enough to be a part of an amazing coed community service fraternity where she served on the executive board for several years organizing community service projects and membership retreats.
In 2012 Jessi had her first baby. Looking back at the experience now, Jessi can see how she desired to be the perfect patient. She did everything that was suggested by the doctors without knowing that she had the ability to say no or simply to ask for time. Since the experience she took to learning all that she could about birth and postpartum and was able to have a better experience with each pregnancy and birth. It wasn’t until after her third pregnancy that Jessi realized her passion for supporting others was in the birth journey.
Jessi became a certified birth doula in 2020 and started attending births in a pandemic. She encouraged families to ask for space when they needed it and provided a listening ear as often as she could.
Since then Jessi has earned the following certifications:
Jessi aims to provide information from evidence based resources and to provide support in an unbiased, nonjudgemental environment while she supports families in making informed decisions that work best for them.
When Jessi isn’t at a birth or supporting a new family at home she is drinking coffee with her partner while enjoying the chaos of their four children.
Jessi is a solo birth doula with Gold Coast and is accepting limited postpartum clients.
