Alexa Watkin

Birth Doula

Alexa was born and raised in West Michigan and has been passionate about supporting mothers since she attended her first birth in 2017. Despite putting her desire for birth work on the back burner as she attended a DTS through YWAM and then later earned her degree in History from Hope College, her passion for guiding women through this beautiful experience never waned. She is currently a DONA-trained doula working toward her DONA international certification.

While at school she had the opportunity to learn about all the ways in which women have given to this world through their bodies, and believes that women are truly incredible. She also learned the sobering reality that so many women are systematically disempowered during pregnancy and birth. Her greatest desire is to be apart of the solution to change that.

A year into postgraduate life, Alexa decided to begin pursuing birthwork once again by attending her birth doula training through DONA in 2024 and she loved it. Being a doula allows her to be a support system around women during what can be a vulnerable time. She loves being able to create a calm and serene environment that encourages women to courageously walk into birth when the time comes. As a faith-centered doula, Alexa believes that women are designed perfectly, and that birth is not something that needs to be dealt with, but something that should be embraced and celebrated.

Alexa lives in Holland and works as an administrative assistant at a local church, is also student midwife. In her free time, she likes to spend time outside whether that be long hikes, laying out at the beach, or gardening. She also loves spending time with her family, who are all local, or if she has the opportunity, going on fun weekend trips around the midwest.
