Jordyn (she/her) has always been a helper, growing up as the oldest sister to a large brood of brothers. A life-long learner, she took every child and family development class in high school and studied Family Studies & Psychology at Western Michigan University. She spent the beginning of her career in the mental health industry. Having her son at the very beginning of the pandemic reignited her passion for family care and led her to train with DONA International as a birth doula.
Experiencing Hyperemesis Gravidarium during her pregnancy was challenging. Still, birthing at a time when outside support in labor and post-partum was not allowed solidified to Jordyn the importance of nurturing the parent (not just the baby) during this transformative period in their lives. Each pregnancy and birth story is unique, and Jordyn is prepared to support, listen to, and nurture the families she works to empower.
She is passionate about perinatal mental health and work-life balance. Throughout her years in the mental health setting, she was the chair of a wellness committee, where she advocated for expanded family benefits. Jordyn was successful and was the first person in her company to be paid for maternity leave.
Jordyn and her family live in Walker, MI. Often found in the kitchen with an audiobook, she also enjoys traveling and spending time with friends.
