Heidi’s unique upbringing allowed her to hone her skills as a caretaker and nurturer from a very young age. Heidi is one of 15 children. Growing up in East Michigan, her parents adopted 12 children while fostering over 65. As a teen, she was a constant source of support to her parents and a caretaker to her siblings.
Feeling the lack of control on her own journey to motherhood, Heidi began educating herself on our maternal healthcare system, choices, and norms. She began to feel empowered with all of the new information she had uncovered. While she waited for her turn to become a mama she decided that she would help other families on their journeys.
Her background in healthcare management and years studying the practice of yoga taught her that education equals choices, and those choices allowed her to feel empowered during the birth of her own daughter. She hopes to share her knowledge with other women and families to allow them to also feel empowered as they walk their own paths.
Heidi is driven to educate herself in order to offer families the best, multilayered support possible. In addition to getting certified as a ProDoula Postpartum & Infant Care Doula and Birth Doula, Heidi is also a Yoga Alliance register Prenatal Yoga Teacher. This is the highest recognized level of training and she is the only person in West Michigan to hold this certification.
She holds additional certifications in:
Fertility I, II and ART Yoga
Postpartum Yoga
Children’s Yoga
Advanced Prenatal Anatomy and Physiology
Pelvic Floor Anatomy and Physiology
The more women she spoke with the more she realized how beautiful and unique each of their journeys truly was. Whether this is your first or fifth child, Heidi believes every family deserves judgment-free love and support. Heidi lives in Forest Hills with her husband and daughter.
