Brianna Soblewski

Newborn Care Specialist

Postpartum & Infant Care Doula

When Brianna had her first child at the age of 20, she had no idea what to expect. She had one book that she referred to, but it did not prepare her for the journey she was about to embark on. The internet wasn’t as easy to access as it is now!

Years later, she started discovering that she didn’t have to blindly say yes to things just because other people or books “knew best.” She wasn’t a failure of a mother for not following what a parenting book or well-meaning person said. She wanted to make her own decisions based on her own knowledge and feelings. So, she started researching about anything and everything relating to parenthood. She researched pregnancy, car seats, breast/chestfeeding, formula, sickness, postpartum, and many other topics. She soaked the information in, excited to learn and teach. When her friends and siblings started having children, she was there, a font of information for them to use. She continued learning and helping, sometimes changing her own views based on the things she read and discovered.

When her youngest child entered kindergarten in 2018, Brianna asked herself, “What do I want to be when I grow up?” After doing some soul-searching, she realized that she wanted to help pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people to feel respected, understood, heard, educated, and not alone. She wanted to help them find empowerment through making their own informed choices when it came to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. So she started on the path to becoming a doula.

In January of 2019, she took her first doula training and started attending births in the Grand Rapids area. That summer, she started her own doula business. Since then, she has attended numerous births and worked for numerous postpartum families. In November of 2020, she moved to Cadillac with her family and continued growing her business. She was officially certified by Childbirth International as a birth doula in 2021 and as a postpartum doula in 2023. That same year, she also earned her Newborn Care, Sleep Specialist, and Multiples/Preemie Care certifications, as well as her Stillbirthday certification. She continues to earn certifications to better help families and expand her knowledge.

She’s excited to be a part of Gold Coast Doulas and help families through the new phase of their life. Like the moon, people go through phases of their life. Postpartum is simply one of those phases. For her, doula-ing is not just a job, it’s a calling. Helping guide people through the postpartum experience is what she’s called to do.

Brianna resides in Cadillac with her husband and three children. She is fueled by awkward humor and copious amounts of caffeine. When she’s not being a doula, she’s usually doing something geeky like reading a fantasy book or playing tabletop role play games.
