Julia Peterson
Birth Doula
Julia grew up in Indiana and has lived in three other states since! While she lived in New Mexico, the home birth/birth center culture gave her a passion for birth work. Now, she’s back to the Midwest and is excited to help Michigan moms with her unique skill set.
Julia had a home birth with her first baby, a girl, and it went so well that she decided she needed to become a doula and to support other women through their own birth stories. She became an advocate for defeating the fear women are taught to feel toward birth. Shortly thereafter, she became a placenta specialist and an elite certified labor doula. Two-and-a-half years later, Julia had another baby girl at a birth center, her second unmedicated birth. Since then, she’s been teaching childbirth classes and learning as much as she can about labor and delivery.
Julia has helped her clients breathe through labor and welcome their beautiful babies into the world, and she loves the idea of helping women through this process for years and years to come! Her empathetic and joyful soul longs to meet every new family who needs her help, whether it be with a medicated birth, hypnobirthing, VBAC, or any other kind of birth story. She is Spinning Babies and Rebozo trained.
Julia lives in Hudsonville with her husband, two girls, and two cats. She enjoys playing tennis, hiking, drinking too much Starbucks, and organizing other people’s stuff.
